The new Skilled Worker Visa Route is now open for candidates to submit their applications.
European citizens will no longer be able to come and work in the UK freely after 31st December 2020. Those of you already here will have to apply for the settlement scheme by the June 20201 and you will be able to continue working in your current Jobs. The Ankara Agreement will end between the UK and Turkey so Turkish Nationals will not be to make fresh applications in or out of the UK and those already here will not be able to sponsor their spouses to join them in the UK. They will however be able to sponsor any children under 21.
This being said, EU migrants, Turkish citizens and ALL other nationalities who wish to come to the UK to live and work will able to apply through the skilled worker route.
Do I Qualify for a UK Skilled Worker Visa?
In order to apply for a UK skilled worker visa route you will need to find employment with an approved employer. The job you are seeking to do must be on the list of eligible occupations and for the most part, you will need to be offered a job that pays a minimum of £26,200. You must have a confirmed job offer before you apply for your visa. The visa can last up to 5 years before you have to extend it, if it expires or if you change employer. You will be able to apply for this visa if you are outside of the UK, extending or if you are switching into this category within the UK. You can also include your partner and children in the application.
Once you apply you will have a decision in around 3 weeks if applying from abroad or 8 weeks in the UK. If you are successful in obtaining the skilled worker visa you will be able to:
• work in an eligible job
• study
• do voluntary work
• travel freely
• apply for indefinite leave to remain after 5 years.
you won’t be able to claim social security benefits or change jobs unless you update your visa.
What are the UK Skilled worker Visa Requirements?
As explained your job will need to have a minimum salary of £26,200 unless the job is in education or healthcare and the employer must be a Home Office approved. If you choose to use our services, we will tell you if the job is eligible before we start the process but a word of warning. The positions that you apply for must be a minimum of A-level standard. No Low level employment such as cleaners or labourers ect will be available.
You will also need to have passed a B1 level of English exam to show you can read, write and speak and understand English or passed GCSE or A level in English or degree that was taught in English unless you are from an English majority speaking country.
What are the Government fees?
The Government fees for this application is between £610 to £1408 depending on your circumstances, you will also need to pay for the Immigration health surcharge of £624 per year and you must have a minimum of £1270 in your bank account to support yourself when you first arrive in the UK.
What about the Employer?
Your prospective employers must be a registered sponsor in order to sponsor your employment.
